WASTEWORLDS

The year is 2125. Clothing waste has taken over the planet. There’s nothing left to do but cut, rip, pin, and stitch our way to salvation.

Welcome to Wasteworlds – a post-apocalyptic fashion wasteland where humanity’s last hope lies in creativity, chaos, and a mountain of clothes.

This large-scale interactive installation transforms fashion’s environmental fallout into a participatory spectacle. Built from unsellable clothing waste in collaboration with Snuff Puppets, Wasteworlds invites audiences of all ages and abilities to join interactive performances, re-imagine the future of fashion, and play their part in rebuilding the world from its leftovers.

Wasteworlds has been designed to embed access for disabled audiences. The work centres the needs and experiences of the disabled community – and from this place, everyone is welcome.

Programming within the installation can include:

• Kids and family workshops
• Durational runway shows
• Low-sensory exhibition sessions
• Talks, performances, and tactile tours.

Perfect for festivals and venues seeking a bold, access-led experience that blends humour, spectacle, and environmental commentary, Wasteworlds encourages audiences to confront the consequences of consumerism – and then make something fabulous out of the wreckage.

The work premiered as part of Melbourne Fringe and Abbotsford Convent’s curated program. It is available to tour in its current form as an interactive installation, and we are seeking commissioning partners to develop the next evolution – a large-scale puppet performance for stage and street.
